April 1st SAAM Kickoff Celebration:
> 2-4 pm In Other Words Bookstore, 8 NE Killingsworth Street
Join advocates from PWCL's Sexual Assault Program for some food and conversation about what we've planned for the month and how you can get involved. We'll provide materials to create shirts to be added to the Clothesline Project. The project focuses on providing healing for survivors of violence, educating the public about violence, and providing solutions through individual action to prevent violence.
April 3rd Portland Proclaims April SAAM:

A proclamation of support and acknowledgement of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Board of County Commissioners will also be honoring OHSU's Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner's Program who has pioneered the medical response to sexual assault in Portland.

April 4th - 6th Sally Tomato's Toy Room:

A multimedia rock opera in four acts, "Toy Room" chronicles the life of the enigmatic Sally Tomato. Portland's creative community makes up the cast. Proceeds benefit PWCL.
April 9th Sexual Harassment: What Every Employer Needs to Know:

A workshop for supervisors and human resource managers about appropriate policies and response to workplace sexual harassment.
This workshop is facilitated by Rachelle Hong Barton and Jennifer Kirkland. Rachelle is an associate in the Portland office of Fisher & Phillips, LLP. She represents management in all aspects of state and federal employment law, including workplace discrimination and harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour law, and family and medical leave laws. Jennifer is a paralegal in the Law Office of Randall Vogt, PC which specializes in effective legal representation in all cases of sexual misconduct.

April 11th Communities Against Rape and Abuse Present : Positive Sexuality:

Communities Against Rape & Abuse is a Seattle-based organization created to undermine the root causes of sexual violence and is driven by survivors who are marginalized from mainstream sexual assault services.
Presented by the Tri-County Sexual Assault Task Force
April 17th Trauma and Recovery:

A presentation that focuses on dealing with some of the effects of childhood abuse that extends into adulthood. Information will be useful for survivors as well as the advocates who work with them.
This workshop is facilitated by Jenny Johnson-Riley. Jenny is the Crisis Line Program Coordinator at Portland Women's Crisis Line where she works with survivors of many forms of gender based violence. She has a special interest in supporting the healing of Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse and works with a local therapist to facilitate a therapy group for this population. She has a background in writing and is currently involved in a project to create a "writing to heal" program at PWCL.

April 24th Bike Back the Night Ride:

RSVP TODAY TO JOIN THE RIDE! A spin on Take Back the Night, riders will take to the streets to demonstrate their commitment to a world without sexual violence. The ride will end at Portland State University in time to join in and celebrate their campus Take Back the Night.
